LTL and pallets
When LTL makes sense
- You have a few pallets or a partial load, not a full trailer
- You do not need a dedicated trailer
- Your freight is palletized, labelled and ready for pickup
- You want to pay for the space and weight you use

- What you are shipping, with weight, dimensions and number of pallets or pieces

- Whether pickup or delivery is at a dock, a residence, or a limited-access site
LTL and pallets
Getting a pallet ready
- Use sturdy pallets and secure the load with wrap or banding
- Label each pallet with the delivery address and a reference number
- Weigh and measure it accurately, since weight and size drive price
- Have the bill of lading ready at pickup, with the same details as your quote
A bill of lading is the receipt and the contract for the move, so the details on it matter.

Common questions
LTL pricing generally depends on the weight and dimensions of the shipment, its freight class, the distance, and any extra services such as a liftgate. We confirm the price with you in writing before the load is booked.
Freight class is a standard rating, from class 50 to class 500, that reflects how dense, bulky and easy to handle a commodity is. It affects LTL pricing, so an accurate description, weight and dimensions on your quote request help avoid corrections later.
It is a delivery to a location with restricted access, such as a school, church, construction site, storage facility or secure site. These can need extra time or a different truck and may carry an additional charge, so tell us up front if your delivery location is one.
Tell us about any special requirements when you ask for a quote. Some, like hazardous materials, need specific authority, training and insurance, so we confirm in writing whether we can handle your freight before it is booked.
Note any damage or shortage on the delivery receipt before you sign, take photos, keep the packaging, and contact us as soon as possible. Claims have time limits that vary, so reporting promptly protects your claim.
